Attention Pune residents! Get ready for a significant water supply disruption on November 20th. A full-day water cut is scheduled, impacting several areas of the city. But here's the catch: it's all for a good cause! The Water Supply Department is taking on an ambitious project to improve our water infrastructure.
On Thursday, November 20th, the city will witness a complete shutdown of water supply as engineers work on connecting a new 3,000 mm main pipeline from Khadakwasla to Parvati. This is a major upgrade, and to ensure a safe and efficient process, water supply to most parts of Pune will be temporarily halted.
But here's where it gets controversial... While this project aims to enhance our water distribution system, it will cause some temporary inconvenience. Residents in the affected areas, including Parvati, Vadgaon, and Warje, among others, are advised to store water in advance and use it wisely on Thursday.
And this is the part most people miss: the benefits of this upgrade! Once the new pipeline is connected and flow meters are installed, water supply will resume on Friday, November 21st, although with slightly lower pressure. However, the long-term gains are significant. This project ensures a more reliable and efficient water supply system for our city.
Nandkumar Jagtap, Head of the Water Supply Department, assures that the supply from Bhama-Askhed Dam to the Nagar Road belt will remain uninterrupted, so no worries there!
