Meghan McCain Fires Back After 'Landman' Takes a Swipe at 'The View'
It seems the drama never truly ends, especially when 'The View' is involved! Meghan McCain, a former co-host of the daytime talk show, recently responded to a jab thrown by Taylor Sheridan's series, 'Landman.' But what exactly happened, and why is this even news?
On December 14th, McCain, now 41, took to social media to express her appreciation for Taylor Sheridan after 'Variety' reported on a scene from 'Landman' that took aim at 'The View.' The article highlighted a moment in the Paramount+ drama where a character described the show as featuring "a bunch of pissed-off millionaires bitching about how much they hate millionaires and [Donald] Trump and men and you and me and everybody else they got a bee up their ass about."
But here's where it gets controversial...
In the 'Landman' scene, Billy Bob Thornton's character, Tommy, suggests watching 'The View' to his father, T.L., for entertainment. The ensuing dialogue paints a rather unflattering picture of the show, comparing its humor to a "fart in church." This depiction clearly didn't sit well with everyone, especially those who have been part of the show.
McCain, who was a co-host on 'The View' from 2017 to 2021, has been vocal about her experiences since leaving. She's described the environment as "toxic," claiming that the show is "unhinged and disorganized and rowdy." She's even stated that the show is "a show with a lot of demons that started in the beginning, and none of those demons have been exorcised." McCain also felt that there was a lack of collaboration and that she often felt isolated as the only conservative voice on the panel.
And this is the part most people miss...
McCain's departure from 'The View' wasn't just a career move; it was a statement. She prioritized honesty over popularity, choosing to speak her truth about political views, even when it meant clashing with others. This brings up the question, how much of the drama is real?
Currently, 'The View' features Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin. The show continues to spark discussions on political and social issues, including controversies, like Jimmy Kimmel's suspension from ABC.
