Clintons vs. Comer: The Battle Over Epstein Inquiry (2026)

The battle lines are drawn: The Clintons are firing back, accusing Representative James Comer of 'lying with impunity' regarding the Epstein inquiry. This is the crux of a developing political showdown. The former President and Secretary of State are fiercely defending themselves against accusations of obstructing the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. But what's really happening here? Let's break it down.

On Wednesday, the Clintons doubled down on their commitment to fight, as Comer and other Republican members of Congress threatened contempt of Congress charges. This follows their release of a strongly worded letter to Comer, urging him to 'fight for this country' and denouncing his actions as 'partisan politics.'

Comer's vow to pursue contempt charges against both Bill and Hillary Clinton is based on their alleged defiance of subpoenas. He claims that Hillary Clinton 'joined her husband in defying a bipartisan, lawful congressional subpoena.'

In response, the Clintons' office released a press statement asserting they've done more than what was asked of them, providing 'comprehensive' sworn statements detailing their knowledge of Epstein and Maxwell.

But here's where it gets controversial... The Clintons' statement directly accuses Comer of misrepresenting the facts. They claim he hasn't disclosed that they swore under oath, and instead, 'resorted to lying.' They are fighting back with 'facts and accountability,' while accusing Comer of lying 'with impunity.'

The former president's office also made public the written declarations, dated January 13, which they provided to the Oversight Committee. These declarations, each containing seven bullet points, conclude with a declaration under penalty of perjury.

Both Clintons deny any personal knowledge of Epstein and Maxwell's criminal activities. They also deny ever visiting Epstein's private estate in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Bill Clinton's declaration acknowledges that Epstein may have attended White House events during his presidency and may have been photographed with him. However, Clinton states he does 'not recall encountering Mr. Epstein, or any specific interaction with him, while in office.'

Both Clintons also deny any involvement in the criminal investigations or prosecutions of Epstein or Maxwell, both during and after their time in office. They state they 'did not direct, oversee or participate in the handling of the investigations or prosecutions.'

Furthermore, both Clintons state they don't recall how they met Maxwell, but they remember that she later 'began a personal relationship with a mutual friend.'

Bill Clinton wrote that he had 'no idea of Mr. Epstein's or Ms. Maxwell's criminal activities' and 'did not take any action for the purpose of helping them to avoid any type of scrutiny.'

Hillary Clinton stated that during her time in public office, from 1993 to 2013, she never had any responsibility for or involvement with the Department of Justice's handling of the Epstein and Maxwell investigations or prosecutions.

So, what do you think? Do you believe the Clintons' defense, or do you find Comer's accusations more credible? Do you think the investigation is politically motivated? Share your thoughts in the comments below! What are your opinions on the timeline between 1993 and 2013?
