Holiday Events in Downtown Carrollton

The holiday season is fast approaching, and the Carrollton Main Street Program is busy planning this year’s events.  Saturday, November 17 will be the Another Reason to Be Thankful event.  We are in the process of gathering items for the Merchant’s Basket that we will be giving away.  Stop by participating merchants during the week of November 13-17 and sign up.  On Friday, November 30 we will get the Christmas season off to a start as we “Light Up Downtown”.  There will be music by the Carroll County High School Chorus as well as local talent Jeannie Rider.  The “switch” will be thrown by Mayor Gene McMurry and County Judge Executive “Shorty” Tomlinson, and, hopefully, the holiday lights will come on.  The festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m.  On Saturday, December 1, we will celebrate “A Christmas Carroll” with the craft tent, featuring handcrafted items and homemade goodies.   The “Visions of Sugar Plums” Bake-Off will take place at McNeal’s with grand prize winner receiving a new cooking stove.  Bring you favorite holiday sweet treat and enter.  The “A Christmas Carroll” parade will begin at 1:00 p.m., and will bring the jolly old man himself, Santa, to the downtown.  Youth groups, churches, and business and civic groups can enter floats with a chance to win trophies and prizes.  For more information about the parade, contact the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce at 502-732-7035.l  Santa will be available for pictures from 1:00 p.m. (immediately after the parade) until 4:00 for a contribution of $5.00 to the local “Shop With A Cop” program.  Don’t forget to visit our downtown businesses for your holiday shopping.  See you downtown!!
